How to Brew Your BEST Cup of Java
Start with quality Coffee Beans. Stay away from "Supermarket coffee" they are usually poor roasted lower grades of coffees. Look for gourmet or specially coffees which are likely to be consistent in their origins and methods of roasting.
SuperiorTaste's Coffee Freshness Guaranteed
4 Signs of Coffee Freshness How can you tell if your coffee is really fresh?
Roasted coffee is a perishable food - just like fresh produce or artisan bread. The flavor peaks a few days after roasting and diminishes once exposed to air, light, and moisture.
But unlike fresh produce or bread, it's not always clear when coffee is past its prime. So, how do you know when your coffee beans are fresh? Check for these 4 signs. And remember, Whole Bean Coffee will remain fresh for a longer period of time than Ground Coffee.
1. Aroma - Envelops you when you open the bag. Deep and intoxicating, intense and fragrant.
2. Oiliness - Essential oils of the beans surface and exhibit a shiny gleam.
3. Bloom - Coffee gases from fresh grounds will bubble and "froth" when mixed with hot water.
4. Flavor - Fresh coffee tastes complex and vibrant, rather than flat and bland.
Here, in Superior Taste we take Coffee Freshness seriously!. To ensure the freshest, best-tasting cup of java, we recommend buying coffee in small quantities frequently (not more than you can drink in 1-2 weeks), storing coffee in an airtight container (preferably in the fridge or freezer), grinding Coffee Beans just before you brew, and drinking coffee within 30 minutes of brewing.
Store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dry environment. Refrigerate or freeze if possible. Use 1 measuring spoon (the one that come with the coffee maker) per coffee cup, plus 1 "for the pot" (e.g. for 2 cups brew - use 3 measuring spoons of coffee). Adjust ratio to suit your taste! Always use fresh, cold water. Filter if possible. Use the correct coffee grind for your taste. For more robust flavor, use finer grinding and vise versa. Always serve coffee hot. Avoid letting your coffee sit for too long on the warmer; this can cause a bitter or stale taste. If coffee must stand for a long period of time, cover top to allow only small "breathing" hole (some coffee makers' pots already have such top).
